John Earp 1912

J. M. Earp in front of the Tucker-Banks building on the SW corner of the Square. The right side of the building was the Bijou Theater and the south side was a second hand store. John Earp did many things in Barton County for many years. He was an agent for the Adams Express Company as well as Standard Oil. He was a jeweler, having a shop on the NW corner of the Square and then on the south end of the west side. He was also elected Mayor twice. He was well liked in Lamar and it was generally decided that he was one of the best Mayors Lamar has had.
