Lamar Hospital and Combs Residence

Probably around 1917, before the Bickell Hospital and way before BCMH. Back then people would set up their homes as emergency rooms. The white house on the left was the hospital and the house on the right is the home of Zeta Mae Combs. They are located just east of the Square on 10th street. The big house on the left was probably built by Lamar lumberman Harve Houston. It was razed in 1969 and the present brick house was built. The house on the right was home to the Combs family for many years. All 3 of the Combs boys grew up here; Clyde, James Carroll and Thomas Selby.
